I think this political cartoon illustrates the pro-gun movement's point well.

This article brings up an interesting point in its "For Self-Defense" section that was also hinted at in the Switzerland video two posts ago.
An armed populace can defend their freedoms from those who feel it's theirs to take.
Imagine the Nazi uprising during World War II, would the Nazi party have had  the same control over its citizens if they had all been armed? Would they have been met with more resistance?

If you haven't yet, please watch the Switzerland video, it touches on this subject very well.

Please take the time to watch these testimonials from normal Americans speaking about their justifications for why they feel the need to own a gun.

The Second Amendment, and Switzerland's Gun Control

Switzerland stands as the pro-gun rally's ultimate example of how guns can benefit a society and make it more secure. Swiss government shows a strong incentivization of military practice, followed by a "gun in every closet" mentality. This has the opposite effect on gun crime that anti-gun politicians would have you think.

This militaristic sensibility is shared throughout most of the Swiss population, as shown by this article and video.
